Mooner – 6:30p

MoonerMooner plays power-pop for the 21st century, melding their signature double lead-guitar attack with deceptively simple pop songwriting that pays homage to Elvis Costello, Big Star and Warren Zevon. The band has been featured on the airwaves via Chicago’s WGN and WXRT, where they were nominated for Best Local Artist. They have collaborated on compilations with Kimya Dawson, shared the stage with The Flamin’ Groovies and James McCartney and played to fans at hallowed Chicago venues like Lincoln Hall, as well as others across the Midwest.

Jay Lyn – 7:00p

Jay LynJay Lyn Gatz is an independent hip-hop artist born on the south side of Chicago. He began rapping in 2001. Gatz’ music serves as an outlet to polish his craft and individuality. He wants his words to stick with people like his father’s words stuck with him. He has formulated a laid-back sound with a sharp romantic flow and a suave persona to match.

Jay Lyn Gatz has a wide range of inspirations such as video games, literature, 90’s pop culture, the 70’s, anime, films, visual artwork, and graphic novels. 90’s hip-hop particularly inspires Gatz because of its ability to contain substance with a gritty outer layer. He is persistent when it comes to making original sounding music and is extremely strict on himself when it comes to his creative process. He focuses on creating music that’s as original as possible. He wants to inspire people to always follow their own path. He’s looking to make an impact on music in Chicago and beyond with his unique sound, staggering signature afro, and shades.
